LA Internation Airport Bakersfiled Sound는 컨츄리의 한 장르로 rock n roll의 영향을 받아 반주가 전기기타등 전자악기에 크게 의존하는게 특징, 창시자는 Wynn Stewart 이고 유명한 artist로는 Buck Owens와 Merle Haggard가 있다. Susan Raye는 그 중 Buck Owens에 의해 크게 성공한 가수이다. 1944년 Oregon주 Eugene 태생으로 고등학교 때부터 rock group에서 노래를 불렀고 그 후 지방 라디오 방송국에서 노래도 부르며, DJ와 TV 프로 그램을 진행을 맡아 하는 동안, 그 당시 Buck Owens의 메니저에 눈에 띄여 Bakersfield에 오게 되어 Buck Owens를 만나게 된다.(1969년 25세나이) 그 때 첫 곡을 취입해 Top 30에 랭크, Hee Haw show 출연계약... 그 후 그녀가 27살 때인 1971년도 L.A. International Airport가 country 9, pop chart 54 를 기록하며 대히트, 1978년 그녀는 6자녀를 키우느라 은퇴한다 *Bakesfiled는 LA의 북쪽에 있는 도시로 2시간 정도 떨어져있다
