크로스오버 오디세이 ‘듀에토(Duetto)’
쓰리 테너 파바로티, 도밍고, 그리고 카레라스의 후계자로
지목 받고 있는 살바토레 리치트라 와 마르첼로 알바레스가
듀엣 음반 ‘듀에토(Duetto)’를 냈다.
이 앨범에는 모두 새롭게 작곡된 (또는 클래식 명곡을 차용해 새로
편곡한 크로스오버) 곡들로 채워져 있다.
이들의 노래는 알바레스와 리치트라가 모두 그들의 황금기에 있다는
것을 과시하고 있다. 테너 목소리의 매력인 영웅적인 열정과 최고음의
환희가 무엇인지를 제대로 보여주고 있는 것이다. 고귀함과 대중성을
모두 충족시킨다는 평을 들으며 최근 들어 우후죽순처럼 쏟아지는 수준
이하의 팝페라 앨범보다는 이 음반같은 정통 테너의 목소리에 먼저 귀
기울이는 것이 올바른 수순일 것이다.
비록 오페라 아리아는 아니지만 이들이 목소리를 어떻게 컨트롤 하는지,
다시말해 아름답게 수렴하든지 힘차게 발산하든지 하는 것을 느끼기에
충분하기 때문이다.
이들의 노래를 듣다보면, 테너의 목소리란 언제 어디서나 함께
할 수 있는, 그리고 싫증나지 않는 벗이란 생각이 든다.
