1943년에태어나 1997년에 비행기 사고로 사망.
원래 이름은 핸드리 죤 도이첸 도르프라는 독일계이름인데
덴버라는 콜로라도의 도시의 이름으로 바꾸었다합니다.
꿈,자연과 자유를 찾아서 콜로라도에 안주하면서
이름까지 바꿀정도라는데,,,
가수로 유명하지만 사회운동가로 활약하여,
기아퇴치,세계평화,환경보호등에 관심을 가지기도했습니다
1997년 10월 경비행기를 몰다가 추락, 사망하였는데
장례식에 참석한 클린턴 대통령은 조사에서
"He soared up into the sky."
- 그는 하늘속으로 비상해 올라갔다-고 표현하죠.
1971년에 고향을 그리는〈Take Me Home, Country Roads>와
아내에 대한 사랑〈Annie's Song〉으로 인기를 얻었습니다.
1982년에는 세계적인 성악가 플라시도 도밍고와 함께
< Perhaps Love〉를 불렀으며, 그밖에도 〈Rocky Mountain High〉
〈My Sweet Lady〉〈Love Again〉 등을 발표하여
많은 인기를 얻었습니다.
